Mosaic Maintenance & Cleaning
How to clean and care for handcrafted marble and glass mosaic tile — simple routine cleaning, marble sealing, pool and outdoor care, and what to avoid — so your mosaic stays brilliant for a lifetime.
Everyday Care
iMosaicArt mosaics are built to last and genuinely low-maintenance. For day-to-day care, simply wipe the surface with a soft cloth and warm water, or a mild pH-neutral cleaner. The golden rule across both materials: gentle, pH-neutral products and soft cloths only — never acidic cleaners or abrasive pads.
- Remove loose dust and debris with a soft, dry cloth or soft brush.
- Wash with warm water and a mild, pH-neutral soap or stone cleaner, using a soft cloth or sponge.
- Rinse with clean water to remove any soap residue.
- Dry with a soft cloth — and buff glass gently for extra shine.
Cleaning Marble Mosaics
Marble is natural stone and acid-sensitive. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner or mild soap and warm water on a soft cloth, then dry. Never use vinegar, lemon, bleach, or acidic cleaners — they etch and dull marble. Blot spills promptly instead of wiping, and seal periodically (see below).
Cleaning Glass Mosaics
Glass is non-porous and waterproof, so it's the easiest to care for. Clean with warm water and a mild pH-neutral detergent on a soft cloth or sponge, rinse, and buff dry for a brilliant shine. For stubborn grime, use a soft brush or an ammonia-free glass cleaner. Avoid abrasive scourers or scouring powders, which can scratch the glass.
Sealing Marble
Because marble is porous, we recommend sealing marble mosaics periodically with a quality penetrating stone sealer — typically every one to two years, or more often in high-use and wet areas such as showers, pool surrounds, and kitchen backsplashes. Sealing protects against staining and keeps the stone looking its best. Glass mosaics do not require sealing.
Outdoor & Pool Care
Our mosaics are fully waterproof and weatherproof, so outdoor, bathroom, and pool pieces need only simple care. Rinse off dust and salt periodically, lift away any algae or buildup with a soft brush, and maintain normal pool water chemistry. The materials withstand sun, frost, heat, and humidity, so no special winter treatment is needed beyond clearing debris.

Care FAQ
How do I clean a glass mosaic?
Wipe with warm water and a mild, pH-neutral soap using a soft cloth or sponge, then rinse and buff dry for shine. Glass is non-porous, so it cleans easily — just avoid abrasive pads that can scratch it.
How do I clean a marble mosaic?
Use a pH-neutral stone cleaner or mild soap and warm water on a soft cloth, then dry. Marble is acid-sensitive, so never use vinegar, lemon, bleach, or acidic cleaners, which etch and dull the stone.
Can I use vinegar or lemon to clean marble?
No — acidic cleaners like vinegar and lemon etch and dull natural marble. Use only pH-neutral products on marble. Glass tolerates mild cleaners, but pH-neutral soap and water is all it needs.
Do marble mosaics need sealing?
Yes. Marble is porous, so seal it periodically with a penetrating stone sealer — especially in showers, pools, and kitchens — to protect against staining. Glass mosaics do not need sealing.
How do I care for a pool or outdoor mosaic?
They're waterproof and weatherproof, so care is simple: rinse off dust and salt, remove algae with a soft brush, and keep normal pool chemistry. No special winter care is needed beyond clearing debris.
How do I remove a stain from marble?
Blot spills promptly rather than wiping. For light marks, use a pH-neutral stone cleaner; for set-in stains, use a stone poultice per its instructions. Avoid acidic or abrasive products.
